Eating Disorders

Eating disorders are complex and multifaceted conditions that are organized far beyond image management. They are rooted in emotional distress and disconnection from one’s innermost being. The disordered behaviors become coping mechanisms to help temporarily regulate one’s internal state. I use a holistic approach to treat mind, body, and spirit in facilitating a repair process that is unique to each individual. Together, we will help you gently reorient to being with your emotions in a way that feels increasingly safe. We will address the underlying beliefs and concerns that drive your harmful behavioral cycles, creating new possibilities for sustainable change.  As a somatic therapist, I will guide you through a process of rekindling your relationship with your intuitive wisdom, so you can return to your innate desire to trust and honor your needs.

Full recovery is possible. You deserve to feel at peace with your relationship to food/body, so that you can spend your time and attention on the things you truly value. I utilize my own experience recovering from an eating disorder to assist you in building a more resilient and compassionate life.

I treat people, not disorders.

That said, here are the presentations of symptoms I specialize in working with: Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Orthorexia, Binge Eating Disorder, Body Dysmorphic Disorder, and generalized Disordered Eating

Many struggle to determine if they *really* need support with their food or body concerns. If you have this question, the answer is likely yes. There is no minimum requirement for your pain to be valid. General symptoms of eating disorders can include:

  • Need to control food

  • Food fears

  • Progressive food restrictions

  • Cutting out major food groups

  • Frequent dieting

  • Skipping meals

  • Food concerns around eating out or traveling

  • Social isolation

  • Mood swings

  • Bingeing

  • Purging

  • Body checking

  • Excessively monitoring your weight

  • Exercising to compensate for food intake

Eating Disorder Group Therapy

Consider joining a group!

Struggling with food/body can be an extremely isolating experience. It can be difficult to share our internal worlds when we are being outwardly praised or feeling shame surrounding coping behaviors. Due to this, talking about what’s going on in a therapeutic group setting is a highly effective intervention for folks in recovery.

This group is for you if you feel alone in your pursuit of healing, like you’ve plateaued in your recovery, or want to feel more comfortable connecting with others. It is a ‘closed’ group which means members will remain consistent week-to-week. This provides the opportunity to feel deeply understood by the group and to work with what comes up for you in close relationships.

Limited spots are available so please reach out soon if you are interested.
